The United Metallurgical Company presented a house brand of premium threaded casing connections used in the construction of oil and gas wells to the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum to be held between October 5 and 8. The OMK brand includes a star-studded line of 5 threaded connections named OMK REGUL, OMK ALPHA, OMK POLAR, OMK VEGA, and OMK SIRIUS.
The threaded connections named for the brightest and best known stars in the sky are unique in the market and have their special properties*. They are characterized by high strength and reliability like products for the space industry.
The OMK premium line is meant for the construction of oil and gas wells of complex designs and for operation under extreme loads, including operation at offshore oil and gas fields.

OMK REGUL is a semi-premium API BTC-compatible threaded connection. It has an additional built-in pin/pin thrust seal capable of withstanding high rotational torque. It is used for casing while drilling or for cementing/running casing while rotating casing strings in the top well intervals. OD Range: 114 to 426 mm.
OMK ALPHA is a first-generation leak-proof OMK threaded connection. The coupled threaded connection is designed with a buttress thread profile, an additional built-in thrust face, and a metal-to-metal gas-tight sealing assembly. It may be used in the vertical and sloping intervals of lightly curved gas wells. OD Range: 114 to 340 mm.
OMK POLAR is a second-generation leak-proof OMK connection. The threaded coupled connection is designed with a special buttress thread profile, an additional built-in thrust face with a negative-angle load-bearing surface and a gas-tight metal-to-metal sealing assembly. It may be used at highly curved oil and gas wells (up to 400/30 m), in vertical and sloping intervals, including wells at offshore fields. In mid-2021, the OMK POLAR connection was successfully qualified to ISO 13679 CAL IV. OD Range: 114 to 273 mm.
OMK VEGA is a third-generation leak-proof OMK connection. The coupled threaded connection is designed with a special buttress thread profile, an additional built-in thrust face, and a metal-to-metal gas-tight sealing assembly that is 100% efficient in tension and compression. It may be used in the vertical, sloping, and long horizontal intervals of highly curved oil and gas wells. OD Range: 114 to 273 mm.
OMK SIRIUS is a fourth-generation leak-proof OMK connection. The high-torque threaded connection is designed with a special wedge (dovetail) thread profile, an additional built-in thrust face, and a metal-to-metal gas-tight sealing assembly that is 100% efficient in tension and compression. It may be used at all oil and gas wells of all types (vertical, sloping, and long horizontal sections as well as at wells of complex design with an S-shaped profile. High strength and resistance to high torques enable tubulars with an OMK SIRIUS connection to be used for casing while drilling and for cementing / running casing strings with rotation. OD Range: 114 to 273 mm.
